The Sørlandsbane is the railway line, which runs along the Norwegian south coast from Stavanger to Oslo and whose construction lasted 66 years. We take the train to Kristiansand, the first part of which runs along the sea and fjords. Then the track goes more inland through higher mountain ridges. Kilometers of tunnels largely determine the image of this spectacular train journey, which is a continuous alternation of peaks and valleys of the Norwegian landscape.

In this episode we travel with nostalgic locomotives at a speed of 7 kilometers per hour to the Schynige Platte, a beautiful vantage point over the region. Then on to the Bernese Oberlandbahn to Lauterbrunnen and from there to Mürren, the balcony for a stunning view of the Eiger and Jungfrau.

From Interlaken we take the Bernese Obertland lift to Grindelwald, the start of the Wengernalp lift. After that the train seems to crawl up along the grim walls of the Eiger, until the switch is made again at Kleine Scheidegg. Via the 6 kilometer long tunnel, the travelers are taken to the highest station in Europe at 3,450 meters with the overwhelming view of glaciers and mountain tops.
